September 4th, 2010, Semi-Final

Semi-Finals: Louie (X-Sabers) Vs. Adib (Blackwings)

Louie has won the opening roll and will begin this game. He set one monster and set two cards in his spell and trap zone to end his turn.

Adib activated Black Whirlwind and summoned Bora the Spear, Louie responded to Bora’s summon by flipping Book of Moon; so that Adib could not search any Blackwings that turn. Adib set also set two cards in his spell and trap zone to end his turn.

Louie flipped his facedown XX-Saber Emmersblade to attack into the facedown Bora then ended his turn.

Adib summoned Vayu, the Emblem of Honor, special summoned Gale the Whirlwind, activated Gale’s effect to cut Emmersblade’s attack in half, then Gale attacked the Emmersblade; activating its effect to search an X-saber monster, Louie special summoned another copy of Emmersblade from his deck. Adib ended his turn with no other plays.
Louie sent Emmersblade in to attack Gale, destroying both monster and Louie activated its effect again, to special summon XX-Saber Fulhelmknight. The monster then attacked and destroyed Vayu. Louie set one spell or trap card to end his turn.

Adib could only set one monster and one spell or trap card to end his turn.

Louie sent Fulhelmknight in to attack Adib’s newly set monster, only for Adib to reveal Icarus Attack, tributing his facedown Vayu, the Emblem of Honor to destroy both of Louie’s spell and trap cards. Since there was replay; as Vayu was tributed, Fulhelmknight made a direct attack. Louie then set one spell or trap card to end his turn.

Adib summoned another Bora the Spear, and Louie responded by flipping Book of Moon on Bora again! Twice in the same game! Adib could not search for Blackwings off of Black Whirlwind again. Adib ended with no other plays.

It seems that Louie was ready, as he began his turn by activating Giant Trunade, bouncing back all of Adib’s spell and trap cards. Then Louie summoned XX-Saber Boggart Knight, activating its effect to special summon XX-Saber Darksoul from his hand, followed by special summoning XX-Saber Faultroll; since Louie has at least two X-Saber monsters on the field. Fulhelmknight was tuned with Darksoul to synchro summon Goyo Guardian. Louie activated Faultroll’s effect to special summon Fulhelmknight. Fulhelmknight attacked the facedown Bora, activating its effect to special summon Emmersblade from Louie’s graveyard, then Goyo Guardian, Emmersblade, and Faultroll made a direct attack to claim Louie the first game!

Adib would have to fight his way out in the second game to have a chance to win the match.

Adib has opted to start the second game by going first by setting three cards in his spell or trap zone, then summoning Shura the Blue Flame in attack mode to end his turn.
Louie began by summoning XX-Saber Fulhelmknight, followed by also setting three cards in his spell and trap zone to end. In Louie’s end phase, Adib has flipped Delta Crow – Anti Reverse, to destroy all of Louie’s spell and trap cards before Louie has a chance to use them. Incredible! Louie was shocked as he lost those cards to Delta Crow.

Adib activated Allure of Darkness to draw two cards; then removed from his hand Dark Grepher. Blizzard the Far North was summoned and Blizzard attacked into Fulhelmknight, destroying each other. Shura made a direct attack, then Adib ended his turn.

Louie summoned XX-Saber Boggart Knight, activating his effect with priority, Adib chained Bottomless Trap Hole to its summon, and the Knight was removed from play, and Louie special summoned XX-Saber Darksoul in defense mode to end his turn.

Adib continued his assault by summoning Bora the Spear, Bora attacked Darksoul, inflicting piercing damage on Louie, and Darksoul’s effect was activated when sent to the graveyard from the field. Shura made another direct attack and Adib ended his turn with no other plays, still two cards hidden on his side of the field. Louie activated Darksoul’s effect in the end phase to move XX-Saber Boggart Knight to his hand.

The moment when Louie drew his next card, he saw that he had no more options or ways to play out of this predictament, he conceded the game.
We are going on to game three!

Louie has opted to begin game three by going first and setting one monster and two cards in his spell and trap zone to end his turn.

Adib drew his sixth card and activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Louie’s set Dimensional Prison. Then he set one monster and two cards in his spell and trap zone to pass his turn.

Louie flipped up his facedown XX-Saber Emmersblade and Adib flipped up Icarus Attack, tributing his facedown Vayu the Emblem of Honor to destroy Louie’s Emmerblade and his other card in his spell and trap zone. Louie could only set one monster to pass his turn.
Adib normal summoned Sirocco the Dawn because Louie controlled a monster. Sirocco attacked Louie’s facedown XX-Saber Darksoul, activating its effect when it was destroyed. Adib ended his turn, and Louie added XX-Saber Faultroll to his hand during the end phase.

Louie set another monster to end his turn.

Sirocco attacked into the facedown monster, which turned out to be another Darksoul! Adib end his turn again with no other plays. Louie added XX-Saber Boggart Knight to his hand in the end phase.

Louie summoned Debris Dragon; activating its effect to special summon Darksoul in defense mode. Debris Dragon was tuned to Darksoul to synchro summon Black Rose Dragon; activating its effect upon summoning to destroy the entire field. Adib responded by flipping Bottomless Trap Hole to remove the Dragon from play. Louie followed up by setting a spell or trap card and added for X-Saber Pashuul to his hand to end his turn.
Adib activated the effect of Vayu in his graveyard by removing itself and Sirocco from the graveyard to special summon Blackwing – Armed Wing. Louie responded to this by flipping Bottomless Trap Hole to remove it from the game. Adib normal summoned Blizzard the Far North, and made the first damage of the game!

The life point count was Louie at 6700 and Adib at perfect 8000.

Louie summoned Boggart Knight, activating its effect to special summon Pashuul, then special summoned XX-Saber Faultroll, and special summoned another copy of Faultroll. Pashuul was tuned to Boggart Knight to synchro summon XX-Saber Hyunlei; activated its effect to destroy Adib’s spell and trap cards. Faultroll’s effect was activated to special summon Pashuul. Pashuul was tuned to the Faultroll that used its effect already to synchro summon Colossal Fighter. The second Faultroll revived Pashuul again, and Pashuul was tuned to Faultroll to synchro summon Stardust Dragon. Colossal Fighter went to attacked Blizzard, and Adib activated Kalut the Moon Shadow in his hand during the damage step to reduce the damage done to him. Then Stardust Dragon attacked directly and Louie ended his turn.
After that explosive play, all Adib could do was set one monster and one spell or trap card to end his turn.

Louie attacked with Colossal Fighter to destroy Adib’s facedown monster, and Stardust Dragon made another direct attack.

Adib saw his next card and he could do no more, as he conceded the match to Louie!

Patience proved to be a virtue in Louie’s games as he waited for the pieces to come together to make an explosive play! Although the early Delta Crow play in the second game has crippled Louie; making him unable to fight back as Adib poured on the Blackwing assault, Louie has emerged victorious in this match 2-1!
