Finals: Chris (Gladiator Beasts) Vs. Mario (Absolute Zero)
Mario won the opening roll and will be going first.
Mario started by setting three cards to his spell and trap zone and activating Future Fusion; declaring Elemental Hero Absolute Zero; sending Destiny Hero – Defender and Deep Sea Diva from his deck to the graveyard. He ended his turn by setting one monster.
Chris set two cards to his spell and trap zone, then set another monster to end his turn as well.
Mario summoned Elemental Hero Stratos, and activated his effect to add Destiny Hero – Diamond Dude to his hand from his deck. Mario passed without attacking.
Chris set one monster, then revealed both of his set monsters as Gladiator Beast Bestiari and Gladiator Beast Hoplomos; sent them back into the deck to fusion summon Gladiator Beast Gyzarus. Its effect was activated; destroying two of Mario’s spell and traps. Mario chained Bottomless Trap Hole to remove it from play and Mario also lost his Torrential Tribute. Chris ended with no other plays.
Mario was up, and during his standby phase, Absolute Zero was summoned through Future Fusion; Chris was ready for him; as he flipped his own Torrential Tribute as well. Mario lost Zero, Stratos, and his facedown Sangan; which added Effect Veiler to his hand.
Mario then activated Reinforcement of the Army; adding Dark Grepher to his hand. Grepher was summoned, and its effect was activated with priority; discarding Destiny Hero – Malicious to send Plaguespreader Zombie from his deck to his graveyard. Malicious was removed from the graveyard for to special summon another copy from his deck. Mario put a card from his hand to the top of his deck to special summon Plaguespreader Zombie. Plaguespreader was tuned to Malicious to synchro summon Stardust Dragon, but Chris flipped Solemn Warning to negate Stardust Dragon’s summoning. Grepher made a direct attack and Mario ended his turn.
Chris summoned Gladiator Beast Laquari, and attacked into Dark Grepher. Chris chose not to tag out his Gladiator this turn. He set one spell or trap card to pass his turn.
Mario summoned Destiny Hero – Diamond Dude, activated its effect; only to bear no fruit, as he revealed Deep Sea Diva. Mario could only end his turn.
Chris summoned Gladiator Beast Darius. Darius attacked into Diamond Dude, and Laquari made a direct attack. At the end of the battle phase, Laquari was tagged into the deck to special summon Gladiator Beast Retiari; whose effect activated to remove Mario’s Absolute Zero in the graveyard. Darius was tagged into the deck to special summon Gladiator Beast Bestiari; whose effect destroyed Mario’s set Trap Stun.
Mario summoned Breaker, the Magical Warrior. When Breaker activated to receive its Spell Counter, Chris flipped Book of Moon to turn it face down. Mario has no choice but to end his turn.
The life count is Mario leading at 5800 to Chris’s 4300.
Chris special summoned Test Tiger; activated its effect with priority to send Retiari back into the deck to special summon Secutor. Mario prematurely activated Effect Veiler’s effect to negate Secutor’s effect. Chris then sent Bestiari and Secutor back into the deck to fusion summon Gyzarus; activating its effect to destroy Mario’s facedown Breaker. Gyzarus was sent back into the Extra Deck to special summon Laquari and Retiari. Retiari’s effect removed Mario’s last copy of Destiny Hero – Malicious. Chris then summoned Murmillo, and sent all of his Gladiator Beasts back into the deck to fusion summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos. Chris set one card to pass his turn.
Mario drew for his turn, and saw he could do no more as he conceded the first game.
