BulletProof II Locals, November 27, 2010 Finals

Louie (Gravekeepers) vs. Feng (Debris Plants)


Louie has came fresh off of a victory after a grueling gravekeeper mirror match. Can he show that Gravekeepers reign supreme?

Feng has won the opening roll and will be going first. Feng set one monster, followed by two set cards to end his turn.

Louie discarded Gravekeeper’s Commandant, to add Necrovalley to his hand. Necrovalley was activated as the field spell. Gravekeeper’s Recruiter was summoned. Royal Tribute was activated. Feng revealed his hand of Caius the Shadow Monarch, Mind Control, and Snowman Eater. Caius and Snowman were discarded. Recruiter attacked into a set Snowman Eater. Its effect destroyed Recruiter. Recruiter’s effect added another Recruiter. Louie then activated Pot of Duality; revealing Recruiter, Solemn Warning, and Gravekeeper’s Commandant. Solemn Warning was added. Louie then set two cards to end his turn.

Feng set Book of Moon and passed.

Louie set one monster to end.

Feng drew and ended.

Louie activated Allure of Darkness; drawing two cards, and removing Recruiter from his hand. Recruiter was flipped face-up. Descendant was summoned; priority was retained, tributing the Recruiter to destroy one of Feng’s face downs. Feng chained that face down; Book of Moon to flip his face-up Snowman Eater facedown. Recruiter’s effect added Gravekeeper’s Assailant to Louie’s hand. Louie then set one card and ended.

Feng set Enemy Controller and passed.

Gravekeeper’s Stele was activated, adding two copies of Recruiters to Louie’s hand. Recruiter was summoned. Descendant was flipped face-up, its effect activated; tributing Recruiter to destroy Feng’s set Snowman Eater. Recruiter’s effect added another Descendant to his hand. Descendant made a direct attack and Louie ended his turn.

The life count is Feng’s 6000 to Louie’s 7800.

Feng set one monster and passed.

Recruiter was summoned. Descendant’s effect activated again; tributing Recruiter to destroy Feng’s set Dandylion. Two fluff tokens were summoned to Feng’s field, as a result. Recruiter’s effect added another Assailant to his hand. Descendant attacked a token to end his turn.

Feng summoned Lonefire Blossom, only to be stopped by Louie’s Solemn Warning.

Assailant was summoned. Louie did not activate Descendant’s effect this time around. Assailant declared an attack on the other fluff token, its effect forcing it into attack mode. Feng flipped his Enemy Controller; tributing his fluff token to take control of the Descendant. Louie ended his turn.

Feng activated Dark Hole, destroying Louie’s field of monsters. Feng then set one to end his turn.

Recruiter was summoned, and made a direct attack. Feng flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Necrovalley to take less damage. Commandant was discarded to the graveyard to get another copy of Necrovalley. Necovalley was activated once again. Louie then ended his turn.

Feng summoned Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind. Its effect cut Recruiter’s stats in half. Feng then activated Mind Control to take the Descendant. Louie chained Book of Moon to turn it facedown (It seems that Louie was confused that it was Brain Control instead.). Feng gain control of the Descendant. It was flipped face-up.

‘Cards in hand?’ ‘Three,’ responded Louie.

Gale was tuned to Descendant to synchro summon Black Rose Dragon, using its effect to destroy the entire field. Louie chained Bottomless Trap Hole, and Feng chained Book of Moon to turn it facedown. Feng ended his turn.

Descendant was summoned and attacked directly.

Feng set one monster to end his turn.



Assailant was summoned. Descendant’s effect tributed Assailant to destroy Feng’s set Sangan. Its effect added Debris Dragon to his hand. Descendant made a direct attack, and Louie ended his turn.
Debris Dragon was summoned, its effect special summoned Dandylion from the graveyard. 
 Louie flipped Book of Moon to turn Dandylion facedown. Feng set one card to end.

Descedant attacked into Debris Dragon. Louie then set one card to end.

Dandylion was tributed for Cyber Dragon. Louie flipped Bottomless Trap Hole to remove Cyber Dragon from play. Feng chained Torrential Tribute, and Louie flipped Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Descendant back to his hand. Two fluff tokens were summoned at the end of the chain. 

Descendant was summoned, and attacked a fluff token. Louie then set one to end.
Feng set one and ended.

Descendant attacked the other fluff token and ended his turn.

Feng drew and ended.

Descendant attacked directly for game, Feng flipped Mirror Force, but Louie flipped Solemn Judgement to negate Mirror Force and attacked for game!

Both players went into their side decks.

Feng has opted to start the second game.

Feng drew his sixth card, and started off with setting two cards to his back field, then activating Dimensional Fissure, followed by summoning D.D. Survivor to end his turn.

Louie was up, and he activated Necrovalley, followed by summoning Gravekeeper’s Assailant. Feng flipped up his Torrential Tribute to remove both his D.D. Survivor and Louie’s Assailant. Louie then set one card and passed his turn. D.D. Survivor came back during the end phase.

D.D. Survivor attacked Louie directly. Feng then set one monster, followed by one set card to end his turn.

Louie summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant, then set another card to end his turn.
Feng flipped his Snowman Eater, its effect destroyed Louie’s Descendant. Another D.D. Survivor was summoned. One Survivor attacked directly; only to be stopped by Louie’s Book of Moon. Another make a successful direct attack. ‘I attack with Snowman Eater,’ joked Feng. Feng then passed his turn.

Louie activated Dark Hole; destroying Feng’s field of monsters an removing them from play. Louie summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant; made a direct attack and ended his turn. One D.D. Survivor came back during his end phase.

Feng attacked into Descendant with D.D. Survivor, Feng flipped Book of Moon, and Louie flipped Solemn Judgment! Feng started another chain when he flipped Book of Moon to turn the Descedant facedown. Feng then set one card to end his turn.

Louie drew and conceded the game, as he had no more plays to make.

And we are going to a third game!

This time around, both players sided quickly as Louie has chose to start the last game.
Louie set two cards and ended.

Feng activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Louie’s set Bottomless Trap Hole. Feng then activated Dimensional Fissure again! D.D. Survivor was summoned afterwards. D.D. Survivor made a direct attack.  Feng then set one card and ended his turn.


Louie set one back row, and flipped the other; Mystical Space Typhoon. It destroyed Dimensional Fissure. Louie then activated Fissure to destroy D.D. Survivor. Gravekeeper’s Descendant was summoned and made a direct attack.

Feng was up, and he activated another Dimensional Fissure. Another D.D. Survivor was summoned as well. D.D. Survivor attacked into Descendant, and Louie flipped Book of Moon to turn D.D. Survivor facedown. Feng then set one cards and ended his turn.
Louie attacked and destroyed Feng’s D.D. Survivor (Please keep in mind that Survivor will not come back because it was not face-up when it was attacked.). Louie then set two cards and ended his turn.

Feng summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh. Rai-Oh attacked into the Descendant. Feng then passed his turn without any other play.

Louie flipped Dark Hole to destroy Rai-Oh. Gravekeeper’s Commandant was summoned, and made direct attack.

Feng set one monster to end his turn.

Louie also set one monster, followed by one set card to end his turn.

Feng then set a card to end his turn.

Louie then set another monster to end his turn.

Feng drew and passed his turn.

Louie summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant. Louie retained priority, and activated Descendant’s effect; tributing his Commdanat to target Dimensional Fissure. Feng flipped Torrential Tribute to destroy both players’ field of monsters. Dimensional Fissure was destroyed at the end of the chain. Louie then ended his turn.

Feng drew and passed his turn.

Louie activated Pot of Duality; revealing Allure of Darkness, Necrovalley, and Gravekeeper’s Stele. Louie added Allure of Darkness to his hand, and shuffled the others back into the deck. Louie then set one cards and passed his turn.

Feng set one card and ended his turn.

Louie activated another Pot of Duality; revealing Gravekeeper’s Recruiter, Gravekeeper’s Spy, and Royal Tribute. Spy was added to Louie’s hand. Louie then set the Spy, followed by one set card and ended his turn.

Feng special summoned Cyber Dragon; Louie then flipped Bottomless Trap Hole. Feng saved his Dragon by flipped Book of Moon to turn it facedown. Feng then tributed his facedown Cyber Dragon for Caius the Shadow Monarch. Caius’s effect removed Louie’s set Spy from the game. Caius made a direct attack.

Louie activated Fissure to destroy Caius; but Feng flipped his Solemn Judgment to keep it alive! Louie then flipped Allure of Darkness; with no cards in hand, drew two cards, and removed Gravekeeper’s Assailant. Louie then summoned Cyber Dragon in defense mode and ended his turn.

The life score is Louie’s 1600 to Feng’s 2500.

Feng showed Louie another Caius and Louie has conceded the game!


Louie shown what Gravekeepers can do during game one, but the deck fell apart to Dimensional Fissure during game two, which denied Louie the chance to use Gravekeeper’s Stele to recycle his Gravekeepers. Game three showed the Dimensional Fissure play again, but Louie quickly took care of that. But Louie’s Pot of Dualitys choices came up bad; limiting his options. Feng has pressed on with Caius give him the victory.


Feng has defeated Louie 2-1!

BulletProof II Locals, November 27, 2010 Round 2

Louie (Gravekeepers) vs. Mario (Gravekeepers)

We have ourselves a Gravekeeper mirror match! Both players may be the same deck archtype, but it remains to be seen if each deck is exactly the same, card for card.
Louie won the opening roll and will be starting this game.

Louie opened up with Solemn Judgment, Book of Moon, Solemn Warning, Bottomless Trap Hole, Mirror Force, and Gravekeeper’s Recruiter. Louie set the Recruiter and set the rest of his hand facedown on the field!

“I set Morphing Jar, just to let you know,” joked Louie.

Mario was up, and he mirrored Louie as well! One set monster and five set cards on the field.

Louie drew one card and passed his turn.

Mario did the same.

Louie flipped his Gravekeeper’s Recruiter and ended his turn.

Mario tributed his Sangan for Caius the Shadow Monarch. Louie flipped up his Solemn Warning, and Mario responded back with Seven Tools of the Bandit. Louie contemplating whether or not to flip his Solemn Judgment when he saw Mario finger a set card on field. 

Louie read that maybe Mario was ready for whatever Louie got. Louie decided to let Caius’s summon be successful and Caius removed his Recruiter from the game. Mario attacked with Caius, and Louie flipped Mirror Force, Mario was thinking about whether or not to respond to the Force. Mario flipped up his Book of Moon to put Caius facedown. Mario then set two cards to have a full five cards set again.

Louie activated Necrovalley, and summons his Gravekeeper’s Commandant. Commandant went to attack Mario’s set Caius, and Mario flipped another Book of Moon to put it facedown. Louie activated Royal Tribute in his second main phase revealing Mario’s Necrovalley and Recruiter. Recruiter was sent to the graveyard. 

Mario flipped up his Caius, and Louie flipped Bottomless Trap Hole to remove it from play. Mario then set one monster and one set card to end his turn.

Louie flipped his Commandant back up, and Mario flipped up Solemn Warning. Louie summoned another Commandant and ended his turn. 

Mario flipped up his Gravekeeper’s Assailant, and attacked into the Commandant; forcing the Commandant into defense mode, but Louie flipped Book of Moon.

Louie drew and passed his turn.

Mario activated his own Necrovalley. Assailant was flipped, and attacks into the defense Commandant, but Louie flipped Dimensional Prison, Mario responded with Solemn Judgment, but Louie flipped his own Solemn Judgment as well! Assailant was removed from play. Mario then set one monster to end his turn.

Louie drew and passed his turn.

Mario set another monster and passed.

Louie attacked into Mario’s set Effect Veiler with Descendent.

Mario sent Commandant to the graveyard to add Necrovalley to his hand. Mario then activated Gravekeeper’s Stele to add Commandant and Recruiter back into the hand. Commandant was summoned, and attacked into Louie’s Descendent.

Louie set one monster to end his turn.

Mario attacked into Louie’s set Gravekeeper’s Spy with Commandant. Louie special summoned Recruiter. Mario flipped his second set Effect Veiler. Recruiter was summoned next. Veiler was tuned to Recruiter and Commandant to synchro summon Stardust Dragon. Recruiter got Mario Assailant.

Louie activated Stele and added Commandant and Descendent. Commandant was sent to the graveyard to add Necrovalley to his hand. Louie then activated his own Necrovalley. Descendant was summoned next. Royal Tribute was activated, discarding Mario’s Assailant.
Mario then activated his Necrovalley. Pot of Duality was activated; revealing Gravekeeper’s Stele, Assailant and Commandant.  Stele was added to his hand. Assailant was summoned, and declared an attack on Louie’s Spy; turning it into attack mode, destroying it. Stardust Dragon made a direct attack, and Louie flipped Compulsary Evacuation Device; returning Stardust Dragon back into the Extra deck. 

The life count is 2100 for both players.

Louie activated Descendant’s effect; tributing his Recruiter to destroy Mario’s Assailant. Descendant made a direct attack.

Mario draws into two cards in hand. Mario set one monster and passed his turn.
Louie flipped Recruiter. Descendant activated; tributing Recruiter to destroy Mario’s set Spy. Mario conceded the game, as his last line of defense was gone.

Mario has opted to start the second game.

Mario activated Necrovalley, followed by one set monster and one set card. Then, activated Royal Tribute, Mario discarded his hand of Sangan and Gravekeeper’s Assailant, while Louie revealed two Pot of Dualitys, Royal Tribute, Torrential Tribute, and Mirror Force; a hand of absolutely no monsters! Mario lost the rest of his hand, while Louie still has five cards in hand. Mario had no choice but to end his turn.

Louie drew and activated Pot of Duality; revealing Gravekeeper’s Assailant, Stele, and Necrovalley. Assailant was added to his hand. Louie set the Assailant, followed by Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute to end his turn.

Mario drew for his turn, set one card and ended.

Louie activated another Pot of Duality; revealing Starlight Road, Gravekeeper’s Spy, and Dimensional Prison. Spy was added to Louie’s hand. Louie set one monster and ended his turn.

Mario drew and passed his turn.

Louie flipped his Spy; Mario discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate Spy’s effect. Louie activated Pot of Duality; revealing Solemn Warning, Assailant and Commandant. Warning was added to his hand (It should be noted that Pot of Duality could not be activated because Spy’s effect to special summon was negated; it does not change the fact that a special summon was attempted but was not successful. Error was caught after the match.). Louie set three cards and ended his turn.

Mario set one card and ended.

Louie flipped Assailant, Mario flipped Bottomless Trap Hole; removing the Assailant, Louie changed his Spy to defense mode and ended his turn.

Mario set another card and ended.

Louie set one monster and passed.

Mario drew and passed his turn.

Louie flips his set Spy, and Mario flipped Solemn Warning. Commandant was discarded to add Necrovalley to his hand. Louie activated his Necrovalley over Mario’s Necrovalley. Louie activated Stele to add Spy and Commandant to his hand. Then one monster was set to end his turn.

Mario replaced Louie’s Necrovalley with his own. Mario summoned Assailant, and Louie flipped Bottomless to remove it from play.

Louie flips Spy, and Mario flipped Solemn Judgment to negate its summon. Descendant was summoned next, and activated its effect; tributing his Spy to destroy Mario’s set Starlight Road. Descendant attacked into Mario’s set Spy. Mario activated Spy’s effect, and Louie flipped Solemn Warning to negate its effect and destroyed it. Louie then activated his own Necrovalley.

Mario drew and set one monster to end.

Louie activated Stele; adding his two Spys to his hand. Descendant attacked into Mario’s set Recruiter. Recruiter added Spy. Louie ended his turn.

Mario drew and set one to pass.

Louie flipped his Spy to special Descendant. Louie activated its effect ; tributing the Spy to destroy Mario’s set Book of Moon. Mario chained the Book, to flip the newly summoned Descendant facedown.

Mario set one card. Recruiter attacked into Descendant; with not results, since Recruiter’s attack matches Descendant’s defense.

Louie summoned Commandant. Descendant activated its effect; tributing the Commandant to destroy Mario’s set Book of Moon. Louie flipped Spy and Mario conceded the game.


A long drawn out match filled with back and forth counters only to give Louie the answers he need to power out of a stalemate and take game one. A costly mistake by Mario in game two during his first turn, has cost him any advantage and eliminated any chance of Mario maintaining control of the game, which gives Louie the green light slowly pick at Mario’s life points.

Louie defeats Mario 2-0!

BulletProof II Locals, November 27, 2010 Round 1

Mario (Gravekeepers) vs. Anthony (Gladiator Beasts)

Anthony has won the opening roll and will be going first.

Anthony activated Pot of Duality; revealing Gladiator Beast War Chariot, Element Hero Prisma, and Gladiator Beast Murmillo. Anthony selected Prisma, and shuffled the rest back into the deck. Gladiator Beast Laquari was summoned, followed by one set card to end his turn.

Mario activated Gravekeeper’s Commandant; discarding it from his hand. Anthony flipped his Gladiator Beast War Chariot; negating Commandant’s searching effect. Mario summoned Gravekeeper’s Recruiter. Book of Moon was activated to put Laquari facedown. Recruiter attacked over the Laquari. Mario set one card to end his turn.

Anthony activated Giant Trunade; sending back Mario’s set card. Thunder King Rai-Oh was summoned. Rai-Oh attacked and destroyed the Recruiter. Rai-Oh’s continuous effect stopped Recruiter’s searching effect. Anthony ended his turn.

Mario activated Necrovalley. Gravekeeper’s Assailant was summoned.  Mario activated Royal Tribute. Anthony revealed his hand of Prisma, Test Tiger, and Gladiator Beast Bestiari. All of them were sent to the graveyard!  Assailant attacked Rai-Oh. Mario then set one card to end his turn.

Anthony drew and set one monster to pass his turn.

Mario attacked into the set Equeste to end his turn.

Anthony set one back row the end his turn.

Assailant made a direct attack. Mario set one monster to end his turn.

Anthony activated Dark Hole, destroying Mario’s Assailant and set Gravekeeper’s Spy. He then set one back row to end his turn.

Mario activated Pot of Duality; revealing Caius the Shadow Monarch, Gravekeeper’s Spy, and Gravekeeper’s Stele. Mario added Stele. Stele was activated; adding Spy and Recruiter from the graveyard to Mario’s hand. Recruiter was summoned, and made a direct attack to end the turn.

Anthony summoned Elemental Hero Prisma; activated its effect to reveal Gladiator Beast Heraklinos from his Extra Deck, and sending Laquari from the deck to the graveyard. Anthony ended without doing anything else.

Recruiter attacked into Prisma; destroying both monsters. Recruiter’s effect got Mario Gravekeeper’s Assailant from his deck.  Mario then set one monster to end his turn.
Anthony set one back row to end.

Mario flipped up his set Spy to special summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant to the field. Mario activated Descendant’s effect; tributing Spy to destroy Anthony’s set Mirror Force. Mario activated Gravekeeper’s Stele; adding Spy and Recruiter to his hand. Recruiter was summoned. Descendant’s effect activated again; tributing Recruiter to destroy Anthony’s set Cold Wave. Recruiter’s effect added Gravekeeper’s Commandant to his hand. 

Anthony conceded the game, as his of his options were gone.

Both players quickly dipped into their side decks, as we head into game two.

Anthony has opted to start up the second game. Gladiator Beast Darius was summoned; followed by two set cards to end his turn.

Mario activated Dark Hole to get rid of Darius; fearing another War Chariot. Gravekeeper’s Recruiter was summoned, and Anthony flipped up his Solemn Warning; paying 2000 life points to negate Recruiter’s summon. Mario then set two cards to pass his turn.

Anthony activated Pot of Duality; revealing Book of Moon, Crevice from Different Dimension, and Gladiator Beast War Chariot. Crevice was added to Anthony’s hand. Gladiator Beast Equeste was summoned, and Mario flipped Torrential Tribute to destroy Equeste. Anthony then set two cards to end his turn.

Gravekeeper’s Assailant was summoned. Assailant made a direct attacked; only to be removed by Anthony’s Dimensional Prison. Mario then ended his turn.

Anthony set one card to end his turn.

Another Assailant was summoned, made a direct attack to end Mario’s turn.
Anthony set one more card to pass his turn.

Mario sent Commandant from his hand to the graveyard to add Necrovalley to his hand. Necrovalley was activated next. Assailant made another direct attack; only to be stopped by Anthony’s flipped Book of Moon. In Mario’s second main phase, Gravekeeper’s Stele was flipped up; targeting Commandant and Recruiter. Anthony flipped up Crevice from a Different Dimension, to attempt to remove it (Judge has warned that Crevice’s effect would be negated because Necrovalley was currently active on the field.). Mario then ended his turn.

The score was Mario’s perfect 8000 to Anthony’s 2800.

Anthony set one card to end his turn.

Mario flipped up his Assailant, then summoned Recruiter. Assailant attacked into yet another Book of Moon. Recruiter made a direct attack. Mario ended his turn.

Anthony set one monster to end his turn.

Mario tributed his Recruiter for Caius the Shadow Monarch, and Anthony conceded the game.

Mario’s game one Royal Tribute has crippled Anthony’s options early in the game to destroy any chances of winning. In game two, Mario has maintained control of the game, as Stele was the key card to Mario’s victory; with an almost unlimited supply of monsters to summon.

Mario has defeated Anthony 2-0!
