Vince drew into a hand of Shire, Lightsworn Spirit; Dark Hole, and Monster Reborn. Vince switched Aurkus into defense mode and ended his turn. Aurkus sent Plaguespreader Zombie and Honest to the graveyard in the end phase.

Mario set one monster and Catastor attacked into Aurkus; again destroying it by its effect.
The score was Mario leading at 5800 to Vince’s 5500.

Vince drew Garoth, placed it back on top of his deck for Plaguespreader Zombie. The zombie was tuned to Wulf to synchro summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Mario negated Brionac’s summon with Solemn Judgment. Vince then activated Dark Hole to destroy Catastor and Mario’s facedown Sangan. Shire attacked Gorz, and Vince passed his turn. Garoth and Judgment Dragon were sent to the graveyard for Shire’s effect. Vince ended with no cards in hand, while Mario had three in his hand.

Mario activated Destiny Draw, discarding newly added Diamond Dude, to draw two cards. Mario then switched the Emissary of Darkness token to attack mode and attacked Brionac, destroying both the synchro and the token. Mario then set one monster, followed by two cards in his spell and trap zone.

Malicious was removed from the graveyard to special summon another copy of Malicious, then Mario put a card back on top from his hand to special summon Plaguespreader Zombie. The zombie tuner was tuned with Malicious to synchro summon Stardust Dragon.

The same exact move from last game! The only exception is that there is no Torrential Tribute, so that Mario has more monsters to attack with.

Sangan was flipped into attack mode. Mario did not want an Honest coming down on him, so he activated Book of Moon to turn Lyla face down. Sangan attacked and destroyed Lyla, Grepher and Stardust Dragon made a direct attack, respectively.

Vince drew for his turn, and activated Monster Reincarnation; discarding Necro Gardna for cost, and adding Lumina from his graveyard to his hand. Lumina was summoned, and Mario denied him, as he flipped Solemn Judgment! Mario paid half of his life points as cost to negate Lumina’s summon. Vince ended with no other plays.

Vince will be starting up game three by drawing into a hand consisting of Celestia, Beckoning Light, Plaguespreader Zombie, Honest, Effect Veiler, and Cold Wave.

Vince set the zombie and passed his turn.

Mario summoned Elemental Hero Stratos; activated its effect, only to be stopped when Vince sent Effect Veiler to the graveyard to negate Stratos’s effect. Stratos attacked and destroyed Vince’s set zombie.

Vince activated Solar Recharge; discarding Celestia, drew two and sent Monster Reborn and Lyla to the graveyard.

“Cards in hand?” “Five,” replied Mario.

Vince set one monster and two cards to his spell and trap zone to end his turn.
Mario activated Reinforcement of the Army to add Dark Grepher to his hand. Stratos was tributed to summon Caius the Shadow Monarch; its effect was activated to remove Vince’s facedown Honest. Caius made a direct attack and Mario passed his turn.

Vince flipped Beckoning Light during Mario’s end phase; discarding Honest, Wulf, and Cold Wave. Vince added back Honest, Lyla, and Effect Veiler to his hand.

Diva was tuned to Malicious to synchro summon Colossal Fighter. The synchro attacked Garoth, and Mario ended his turn.

The score was Mario leading at 4450 and Vince at 4100.

Vince summoned Shire, Lightsworn Spirit, and attacked into Mario’s Diva. Shire’s effect sent Pot of Avarice and Foolish Burial to the graveyard in the end phase.

Mario summoned Spined Gillman, Colossal Fighter attacked into Shire, and Gillman attacked directly. Mario ended his turn after that.

Vince special summoned Judgment Dragon from his hand, and thought about whether to activate the Dragon’s effect or not.

“I know you have Effect Veiler in your hand.” Vince voiced.

Judgment Dragon attacked into Spined Gillman. Vince activated Judgment Dragon’s effect, after the battle; paying 1000 life points, testing the waters. Indeed, Mario did have an Effect Veiler, as he sent it to the graveyard to protect his Colossal Fighter from destruction. With the synchro’s attack points enough to take out Judgment Dragon, Vince conceded the game to Mario.

Vince’s strong game one showing could not be carried on to the next two games, as he drew horrendous in his game two and three opening hands and his Recharge’s draws were getting worse. Mario took advantage of that and swarm the field; overwhelming Vince into a 2-1 victory!

September 25th, 2010, Round 3

Round 3: Vince (Lightsworn) VS Adib (Blackwings)

Adib has won the opening roll and will be going first.

Adib starts off with setting one monster and three cards in his spell and trap zone.

Vince summons Shire, Lightsworn Spirit and ends his turn, sending Beckoning Light and Trap Stun from the top of his deck to the graveyard.

Adib flip summons Vayu, the Emblem of Honor, and activating Book of Moon; targeting Shire. Unfortunately, Adib only remembered its defense points after resolving the Book of Moon, Adib could only set one spell or trap card and passed his turn.

Vince flips his Shire and summons Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid. Vince chose not to attack again this turn. He sent Celestia, Lightsworn Angel; and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter to the graveyard from Shire’s effect, and Monster Reborn, and Torrential Tribute for Aurkus’s effect.

Adib activated Dark Hole. He summons Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame and attack directly.

With that Dark Hole play, Vince had exactly enough Lighsworn monsters in the graveyard in order to special summoned Judgment Dragon! Unfortunately, Adib saw this coming and activated Solemn Warning; paying 2000 life points, to negate the Dragon’s summon. He then summons Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior; which was lost to Adib’s Bottomless Trap Hole. With no more moves and an empty field, Vince ends his turn.

Adib makes another successful direct attack with Shura. He sets one spell or trap card and ends his turn.

Vince activates his Dark Hole to destroy Shura. He summons Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress and successfully lands a direct attack. In his second main phase, Vince activates Lyla's effect and destroys Adib's set Mystical Space Typhoon. Afterwards, he ends his turn and sent Honest, Jain, Lightsworn Paladin; and Archlord Kristya to the graveyard.

The score was Adib; leading at 4300 to Vince’s 3400.

Vince activated Solar Recharge, discarding Wulf for the cost. He drew two cards from his deck, and he sent Trap Stun and another Solar Recharge from his deck to the graveyard. Afterwards, Vince flips up his Judgment Dragon and activates its effect again on Adib's one facedown card and successfully attacks directly. Afterwards, he activates his second Solar Recharge and discards Celestia. This time he sent Ehren, Lightsworn Monk and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. Vince activates Pot of Duality; revealing Consecrated Light, Beckoning Light, and Honest, Vince added Consecrated Light to his hand and shuffled the others back into the deck. He activates Dark Hole to destroy Gale, then summoned Consecrated Light, and set one spell or trap to end his turn.

Adib could only set one monster and ends his turn.

Vince summons Shire, Lightsworn Spirit; its attack is 1600 due to its effect, and attacks into a facedown Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn. Vince ends his turn, sending Royal Decree and Honest to his graveyard for Shire’s effect.

Adib, still having no answer to deal with the Consecrated Light, sets another monster and another spell or trap card before ending his turn.

Vince attacks the facedown monster with Shire, but Adib flipped Icarus Attack; tributes his set Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow; as cost, he destroys both Vince's Shire and Consecrated Light. Vince sets one spell or trap card and activated his set Beckoning Light, discarding 3 cards. Vince returns Consecrated Light, Honest, and Ehren into his hand. He summons Consecrated Light once again and ends his turn.

Adib, currently with 4 cards in his hand, and one card set, activates his set Giant Trunade. Vince sent back his spell and trap cards. Afterwards, Adib activates Monster Reborn on to special summon Vince's Celestia, Lightsworn Angel; and attacks Consecrated Light. Then, he summons Blackwing  - Blizzard the Far North, and special summons Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind from his graveyard. He tuned Gale with Celestia to synchro summon Stardust Dragon. Adib, then special summons Dark Armed Dragon onto the field, end his turn with only Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow in his hand and no targets for the Dark Armed Dragon on Vince’s field.

Vince draws to 4 cards in hand; consisting of Royal Decree, Ehren, Lightsworn Monk; Beckoning Light, and Honest. He summons Ehren and attacks Dark Armed Dragon, activating Honest in the damage step; by sending it to the graveyard, and destroys it. Vince sets the Beckoning Light and ends his turn.

Adib drew Starlight Road. Adib declares an attack on Ehren with Stardust Dragon. Vince responds by activating Beckoning Light to discard his Royal Decree to return Honest into his hand. During the damage step, Vince again sends Honest to the graveyard to destroy Stardust Dragon. Adib declared an attack on Ehren with Blizzard; unaware with how long did Honest’s effect last; which was until end of turn. Adib continued the attack with Blizzard, sending Kalut to the graveyard during the damage step. However, Ehren remained at 4100 ATK and Blizzard now at 2700 ATK was destroyed. (Vince: 5700 / Adib: 3400). Adib sets his Starlight Road and ends his turn.

Ehren made a direct attack. Vince ended, sending Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid; Monster Reincarnation, and Judgment Dragon.

Adib drew Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame and immediately summons it. He attacked Ehren with Shura and activated its effect; special summoning Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor, from his deck. Vayu attacks directly. In Main Phase 2, Vayu; with its effect negated, thanks to Shura, was tuned to Shura to synchro summon Magical Android. Adib ended his turn and gained 600 LP at the end phase.

The score was Vince leading at 4700and Adib at 2400.

Vince draws to two cards in his hand. He summons Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress; and activated its effect to destroy Adib's set Starlight Road, Lyla went to defense mode. He activated Plaguespreader Zombie’s effect by returning his last card in hand to the top of his deck to special summon Plaguespreader Zombie from his graveyard. The zombie was tuned to Lyla to synchro summon Goyo Guardian and attacks Adib's Magical Android. Vince then activates Goyo Guardian's effect to special summon the Magical Android in defense mode afterwards and gains 600 LP at the end phase of his turn.

After drawing his next card, Adib concedes.

Adib showed a strong opening during game one; only to run out of steam during the middle to lose his follow-up play, leaving Vince to draw answers from his deck and devastated Adib with Judgment Dragon. Vince’s early play of summoning Consecrated Light held down Adib’s first few turns. Adib showed a misplay of summoning Dark Armed Dragon early, when it was completely unnecessary, possibly fearing another Consecrated Light, cost him an answer. Following that, Adib’s miscalculation of Honest’s effect has sealed his defeat. Vince wins the match 2-0.

Zanji attacked into Absolute Zero; Zero activating its effect to destroy all monster of the field. Chak activated Grandmaster’s effect to add Yaichi to his hand. Chak activated Gateway of the Six Samurai, then summoned Yaichi; putting two bushido counters on the Gateway, then special summoned another Grandmaster from his hand; adding another two bushido counters. Chak removed four bushido counters to search for another Zanji, then summoned Zanji; adding another two bushido counters.

Ricky drew for his turn; considered his options, and conceded the match.

A well timed Trap Dustshoot has destroyed Ricky’s chance to fight back and an unnecessary sacrifice of his fusion material monsters in order to summon Absolute Zero has cost Ricky the match and has allowed Chak to stay in control and swarmed the field to win the match 2-0!

(There was a bit of confusion as if Pashuul’s effect was a maintenance cost or not, the judge ruled that it was an effect monster’s trigger effect.) Louie ended his turn without doing a thing.

Louie summoned Darksoul and tuned Darksoul to his second copy of Debris Dragon; still on the field to synchro summon another Black Rose Dragon, Matt negated again with Royal Oppression. Louie added Boggart Knight to his hand in the end phase.

Matt is now at 400 to Louie’s 5500; Matt can no longer use Royal Oppression’s effect anymore.

Matt set one spell or trap card to end.

Louie drew and ended.

Matt did the same.

XX-Saber Faultroll came next, special summoning Pashuul from the graveyard. Another Faultroll was special summoned, and Pashuul was tuned to the Faultroll who already used it effect, to synchro summon Stardust Dragon. Then, the second Faultroll special summoned Pashuul again. Pashuul was tuned to Boggart Knight to synchro summon Hyunlei to destroy the rest of Matt’s spell and trap cards. Louie attacked with all of his monsters for game and to win the match!

A very long game one where Louie set up his plays was followed by an even longer game two, with Naturia Beast blocking Matt from making any more attacks while Louie waited to collect the pieces and the Royal Oppression did not even affect him. Matt’s Royal Oppression was ultimately his demise as Louie forced Matt to use its effect continually.

Louie has won the match 2-0!
