Mario (Gravekeepers) vs. Anthony (Gladiator Beasts)

Anthony has won the opening roll and will be going first.

Mario activated Gravekeeper’s Commandant; discarding it from his hand. Anthony flipped his Gladiator Beast War Chariot; negating Commandant’s searching effect. Mario summoned Gravekeeper’s Recruiter. Book of Moon was activated to put Laquari facedown. Recruiter attacked over the Laquari. Mario set one card to end his turn.

Anthony activated Giant Trunade; sending back Mario’s set card. Thunder King Rai-Oh was summoned. Rai-Oh attacked and destroyed the Recruiter. Rai-Oh’s continuous effect stopped Recruiter’s searching effect. Anthony ended his turn.

Mario activated Necrovalley. Gravekeeper’s Assailant was summoned.  Mario activated Royal Tribute. Anthony revealed his hand of Prisma, Test Tiger, and Gladiator Beast Bestiari. All of them were sent to the graveyard!  Assailant attacked Rai-Oh. Mario then set one card to end his turn.

Anthony summoned Elemental Hero Prisma; activated its effect to reveal Gladiator Beast Heraklinos from his Extra Deck, and sending Laquari from the deck to the graveyard. Anthony ended without doing anything else.

Recruiter attacked into Prisma; destroying both monsters. Recruiter’s effect got Mario Gravekeeper’s Assailant from his deck.  Mario then set one monster to end his turn.
Anthony set one back row to end.

Mario flipped up his set Spy to special summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant to the field. Mario activated Descendant’s effect; tributing Spy to destroy Anthony’s set Mirror Force. Both players quickly dipped into their side decks, as we head into game two.

Anthony has opted to start up the second game. Gladiator Beast Darius was summoned; followed by two set cards to end his turn.

Mario activated Dark Hole to get rid of Darius; fearing another War Chariot. Gravekeeper’s Recruiter was summoned, and Anthony flipped up his Solemn Warning; paying 2000 life points to negate Recruiter’s summon. Mario then set two cards to pass his turn.

Assailant made another direct attack; only to be stopped by Anthony’s flipped Book of Moon. In Mario’s second main phase, Gravekeeper’s Stele was flipped up; targeting Commandant and Recruiter. Anthony flipped up Crevice from a Different Dimension, to attempt to remove it (Judge has warned that Crevice’s effect would be negated because Necrovalley was currently active on the field.). Mario then ended his turn.

The score was Mario’s perfect 8000 to Anthony’s 2800.

Anthony set one card to end his turn.

Mario flipped up his Assailant, then summoned Recruiter. Assailant attacked into yet another Book of Moon. Recruiter made a direct attack. Mario ended his turn.

Anthony set one monster to end his turn.

Mario tributed his Recruiter for Caius the Shadow Monarch, and Anthony conceded the game.

Mario’s game one Royal Tribute has crippled Anthony’s options early in the game to destroy any chances of winning. In game two, Mario has maintained control of the game, as Stele was the key card to Mario’s victory; with an almost unlimited supply of monsters to summon.

Mario has defeated Anthony 2-0!
