BulletProof II Locals, November 13, 2010 Semi-Finals

Mario vs Jimmy (Gravekeepers vs. QuickDraw Plants)

Mario won the opening roll and will be going first. Mario set three cards in his spell and trap zone, activated Necrovalley, and set one monster to end his turn.

Jimmy drew into a hand of Caius the Shadow Monarch, Gold Sarcophagus, Book of Moon, Dark Hole and two copies of Pot of Avarice. Jimmy activated Gold Sarcophagus, removing Super Nimble Mega-Hamster from the game from his deck. Dark Hole was activated; destroying Mario’s set Gravekeeper’s Assailant. Jimmy then set one spell or trap card to end his turn.

Mario summoned another Gravekeeper’s Assailant and attacked directly. Mario then ended his turn.

Jimmy drew and passed his turn.

Mario attacked directly again with the Assailant. Then Mario set one monster to pass his turn.

Jimmy drew, and added the Hamster to his hand during his standby phase. Then he set the Hamster to end his turn.

Mario flipped up his set Gravekeeper’s Spy to summon Gravekeeper’s Descendent from his deck. Mario activated Descendent’s effect; tributing the Spy to destroy Jimmy’s set Hamster. Assailant went for another direct attack, only to be stopped when Jimmy flipped Book of Moon to turn the Assailant face down. Mario then ended his turn.

Jimmy set one monster to end his turn.

Mario flipped Assailant into attack mode, and activated Desecedant’s effect again; tributing the Assailant to target Jimmy’s facedown monster. Jimmy responded by sending Effect Veiler from his hand to the graveyard to negate Descedent’s effect. Mario then activated Gravekeeper’s Stele, adding Spy and Assailant to his hand from the graveyard. Jimmy scooped seeing that he was out of options.

Both players dipped into their side decks.

Jimmy has opted to start first in the second game.
He drew into a hand of Spore, two copies of Quickdraw Synchron, Dark Hole, Royal Decree, and Book of Moon. Jimmy set the Spore and Book of Moon to end his turn.

Mario was up, and activated Allure of Darkness, drawing two cards, and removing Caius the Shadow Monarch from his hand. Mario then activated Necrovalley, and set four cards to his spell and trap zone to end his turn.

Jimmy drew and set two more cards to his spell and trap zone to end his turn.

Mario drew and passed his turn.

Jimmy discarded Dandylion to special summon Quickdraw Synchron, Dandylion’s effect special summoned two fluff tokens to his field. Quickdraw was tuned to one fluff token to synchro summon Turbo Warrior. Mario responded by flipping Bottomless Trap Hole, Jimmy responded by flipping his Royal Decree, and Mario responded back by flipping Solemn Judgment! The end result was that Turbo Warrior was destroyed and removed from game. Jimmy then his face down Spore for another Quickdraw. Quickdraw was tuned to the other fluff token to synchro summon Drill Warrior. Drill Warrior made a direct attack and Jimmy ended his turn.

Mario activated Smashing Ground to get rid of the Turbo Warrior, and Jimmy saved it by flipping Book of Moon to turn it face down. Mario then summoned Gravekeeper’s Commandant, and attacked into the face down Drill Warrior, only to be stopped by Jimmy’ second Book of Moon! Mario could only end his turn.

Jimmy flipped up his Drill Warrior and attacked Mario’s set Commandant, only to meet its end with Mirror Force. Jimmy ended his turn.

Mario flipped up his Commandant also, and made a direct attack.

The life count is Jimmy’s 5900 to Mario’s 1700.

Jimmy set one monster and ended his turn.

Mario summoned Gravekeeper’s Assailant. Commandant attacked Mario’s set Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. Ryko’s effect activated, targeting Mario’s Necrovalley; destroying it. Ryko milled Nobleman of Crossout, Mind Crush, and Effect Veiler. Assailant made a direct attack. Mario activated another Necrovalley in his second main phase. Mario then ended his turn.

Jimmy drew and passed his turn.

Mario attacked directly with Assailant to end his turn.

Jimmy set a Sangan to end his turn.

Mario tribute his Assailant for Caius the Shadow Monarch, its effect targeted Jimmy’s face down Sangan. Jimmy responded by sending Effect Veiler to negate Caius’s effect. Caius attacked into the Sangan. Sangan’s effect added Lonefire Blossom to Jimmy’s hand. Mario set one spell or trap card to pass his turn.

Jimmy summoned Lonefire Blossom, and activated its effect; tributing itself, to special summon Dandylion from his deck in defense. Then he activated Tuning, only to find that he has no more Synchron monsters to add to his hand. So as a result, Jimmy did not mill a card from his deck. Jimmy could only end his turn.

Mario discarded Commandant to add Necrovalley to his hand. Gravekeeper’s Stele was activated next; adding the Commandant and Assailant to his hand from the graveyard. Assailant was summoned. Caius attacked into the Dandylion, its effect special summoned two fluff tokens. Assailant declared an attack on a fluff token; its effect activating to turn the fluff token into attack mode. Mario then ended his turn.

Jimmy tribute his other fluff token to summon Caius the Shadow Monarch, activating its effect to remove Mario’s Caius. Mario flipped Bottomless Trap Hole, and then chained Effect Veiler from his hand to negate Caius’s effect and remove it from the game. Jimmy conceded as his outs were gone.

Mario wins the match 2-0.
